I manage a few social accounts and am mindful when it comes to settings and monitoring tagged content.
Instagram’s collaborator feature allows another account’s content to show up on your grid and their grid too. If you’re uncertain about accepting a request, do your due diligence. Make sure all tagged accounts aren’t something that could potentially tarnish your brand.
Your social media = your digital footprint. If it’s out in the universe, someone will find it.
Story time!
A new “media” business specializing in “storytelling” and “content creation” obsessively started tagging an organization I manage social media for. They also tagged our community partners.
Awkward and confusing messaging, aesthetically a disaster. How could this happen?
At some point, they had been on premise and managed to film enough content to use for several poorly created reels with the organization’s name attached. Cease and desist!
I looped in my client who handled the situation. I opted out of IG tagging to let the dust settle.
There’s more!
Where did this “media” company come from? I did some digging.
The “host” was tagged so I went to her IG handle. I saw the content on her grid. Then it took a turn into explicit images of her modeling for Fascinations. Ummm okay.
Apparently she writes books for kids too.
Clearly she doesn’t understand branding.
